Muslim Fashion

Islamic fashion

muslin fashionSo it’s Islam Awareness Week here in New Zealand. What is this week all about? It’s basically Muslims letting know the very ill-informed New Zealander that Islam isn’t all that bad. In fact, it’s not a terrorist religion at all. True story. Mosques around the country welcome people in so they can learn all about the Muslim religion—a more genuine source than the media, I’m sure. As part of this week’s events (and following a disturbing global trend) the Muslim community has organised a fashion show for Muslim women.

The regular misconception is that Islamic clothes for women are based on ‘old-fashioned’ principles. The truth is that Islamic outfits, whilst being necessarily ‘modest, ‘ does not need to sacrifice elegance, dignity and trend. While common approaches to such clothing may have actually added to this perception, there are a host of new designs and designs that actually combine contemporary benefits with traditional values. Muslim female today have got a range of never-before choices, where they can get standard attire within easy reach.

Islamic Outfits for Woman: Who, What, Where? Thanks to the Internet, there are a host of online stores that have sprung up catering to niche categories of clients, and Islamic apparel for lady are no exception. Take EastEssence. com for example. This online shop offers a range of traditional wear that includes:

Abayas Jilbabs Hijabs Scarves Shawls Jackets Skirts Sets (combined sets of upper and lower clothes and head scarf) Marriage and bridal wear (such as sherwanis and lehengas) Shoes Accessories

Just a quick post with some pretty new hijab fashion designs by Marwa Hamed - Egyptian Veil Artist. Great ideas for your next henna party or wahlimah. I love the turban-style wraps that are becoming popular. Very chic. Enjoy!

*As with most hijab fashion style posts, these pics are more appropriate for ladies/Mahram events. Styles should be augmented to meet the conditions for hijab.

Well, first when I started with hijab, i just wore it plain and simple. But as time passes by, i like to play with my hijab and different styles. I really enjoy colorful scarfs with different wearing styles.
Its really cool, its take a few minutes to set it up. But the end result is beautiful. I have seen on my beautiful sister who wears hijab, they all have different styles, and I simply love it. But offcourse has to do its jobs, cover up. As long as it does it, you can play with the styles all you want. Its up to you.

Wedding Hijab Style 2011

Today, we take a look at Arabic Muslim Fashion, namely hijab (headscarf) styles in Egypt. Inspired by a recent trip to Cairo, we showcase Egyptian Style Muslim Fashion. The majority of the women in Egypt wear hijab - this was a surprise to us! We were told that the numbers of women wearing the hijab today has substantially increased compared to the 1980s. How cool is that?

Although, some of the younger ones tend to pair their lovely and colorful hijabs with form fitting clothes (which defies the purpose of Islamic conception of modest dress), Egyptian Muslim fashion is innovative. Hijabs are carefully color coordinated; and long tunics and pants are standard street Muslim women wear.
